Juniors Impress – 12/04/25

Lukas Ruane, Dom Edwards and Kai Watson all scored unbeaten half-centuries before retiring not out which helped us to a 3 wicket win over Gildersome & Farnley Hill. Junior Coach Jack Lonsdale was well-impressed with two of our aspiring juniors. “I just want to say a huge well done to Lily Lonsdale and Benji Thornhill for claiming their first senior wickets and how they applied themselves with the bat, they both should be very proud of themselves”.

Junior Outdoor Training

Starts on Friday 11th April 2025, 6:00pm until 7:30pm! It has been decided that to cover the cost of our new equipment and coaches hours, there will be a small fee of £2.00 to pay per attendee each week at training. There will be an assigned parent coming round with a list to check who has attended and to take the £2.00 (if you forget the £2.00, you can bring it to the next training and keep it rolling over). It’s set to be a warm one so while the kids tire themselves out, the adults can sit back and relax with a drink or two.

Newsletter

Not everyone uses social media so we are in the process of creating a newsletter which will be sent out on a regular basis, whether that’s weekly, bi-weekly or monthly keeping you all informed what’s going on. Our effective newsletter will be informative, engaging and personalised, encouraging readers to stay connected and involved with the club. Being able to email newsletters direct to people who are interested in our club has many advantages, not least that unlike a social media account, the information held on our club’s email list is purely owned by us. Here is where you will find the club’s friends, everyone from members to members of the wider community. Past members will also be encouraged to sign up too, as well as people who visit our cafe and gym on a regular basis. This is a broad group of people, so whatever is put in our newsletter will be appropriate. ‘Newsletters’ is an extensive marketing and communications topic. Consistency is key to building a loyal readership. Scroll down and click the sign up button at the bottom please.

Venue Hire

Doreen Jackson RIP

It is with deep sadness to learn of the death of one of our longest associates of the club, Doreen Jackson. Doreen was the wife of our former Club President, Chairman and Captain, Barry Jackson who sadly left us in 1999. She was deeply connected to the club being the Mum of Jane and Mark Jackson, Mother-in-Law of David Watson and Grandma to Joe Suggitt and Tom Suggitt along with all the wider Watson family who are all frequent visitors and supporters of our great club. Our current President Stephen Dalby has personally known Doreen for forty plus years. He added ” Doreen was a bundle of fun, energy and joy to be around who always had a smile on her face, never shy of a conversation to be had and even in her eighties, she would be on the dance floor leading the Conga or kicking her legs up to the Can Can”. Back in the day we used to have the Committee Meetings at the Jackson household in their bungalow on Blue Hill Lane where you were greeted by a beautiful garden of stately home standard which was all the work of Doreen and her passion for gardening. There was always plenty of refreshments on hand and the meetings became more of a social occasion rather than that of a formal meeting. We will communicate funeral arrangements once they are known and with Doreen now being reunited with Barry, I am sure they will be serving up great fish and chips for all the angels. Rest In Peace Doreen. 🙏
